About Seed Forum Finland
The 1st Seed Forum in Helsinki was initiated by Finpro and hosted in the main auditorium of the Finpro Building on the 6th of June 2006. The initiative came from the cooperation between Seed Forum and Finpro to bring Finnish companies to the ongoing Seed Forum venue in London.
Technopolis Ventures took over the Seed Forum representation in Finland from the 2nd Seed Forum Helsinki on the 10th of May 2007 as an integrated module in the ongoing “Money Talks Forum” hosted in Innopolis in Espoo. The cooperation with Technopolis Ventures continued for the forums autumn 2007 and spring 2008.
The Seed Forum process in Finland continued with Seed Forum Helsinki on the 20st of March 2012 in cooperation with the Aalto Small Business Centre as a part of the cooperation in the “Home-Team market” INTERREG project granted by the European Commission where also Seed Forum Eesti Foundation and Seed Forum Latvia Foundations were partners. The Aalto Small Business Centre was the main representative of Seed Forum in Finland from spring 2012 until autumn 2014 for 6 Seed Forum processes.
The Seed Forum Finland Foundation was established in 2015 as an initiative by the Seed Forum International Foundation as the sole founder. The Seed Forum process in Finland continued under the management of Seed Forum Finland Foundation from autumn 2016 with Seed Forum Helsinki as an integrated part of the business program to the State Visit of the King & Queen of Norway on Wednesday the 7th of September 2016. The official participation of Seed Forum in the State Visit gave a major reference point for further Seed Forum activities in Finland where the President of Finland, HE Sauli Niinistö gave the opening remarks.
Most of the Seed Forums in Helsinki has been opened by the respective Ambassadors of Norway and the UK, and evening receptions has been held after Seed Forums Helsinki at the British Embassy and at the Norwegian Embassy. The 1st evening reception was held by the British Ambassador to Finland already after the 1st Seed Forum in Helsinki spring 2006.
Seed Forum Academy pitch trainings has been held many times in Helsinki. 1st time already spring 2006 in the Finpro Building, several times hosted at the Aalto Small Business Centre and from 2016 also hosted by the Hannes Snellmann Law Firm as well as The NewCo Helsinki Accelerator. More than 100 Finnish start-ups have so far been in Seed Forum pitch trainings and presented in Seed Forums in Helsinki and overseas and are thereby recognised as members of Seed Forum Finland alumni.
